One Amazing Gal

I am sure Jessica would die right now if she knew I was writing about her, but oh well, what can I say, I am a proud mom! Ever since she was little, okay, born, I knew right away I had a very strong, independent, and wonderful daughter on my hands! I remember her lifting her head up after she was born and looking right at me as if to say, "Okay, I am here! Let's get the party going!" She has truly been my child that has taken life to the fullest. Always trying new things, adventuring places on her own, and making friends all along the way. She is always sticking up for the underdog and reminding us that we are not here to judge others, that's God's job.

She is an amazing young woman. She knew in High School she wanted to be a nurse, and is working extremely hard to reach that goal. I have never seen someone so dedicated in her studies as she has been. When she is not in school, she can be seen studying, studying and studying some more. I don't know how she does it without going crazy! She is so disciplined and such a great time manager that she even has a little time to socialize, which is a very important part of her life. She is making it all work and I am truly amazed, and, of course, overwhelmingly proud. Her goal is to be an Pediatric Oncology nurse, which I know she will truly succeed in. She loves children and has a huge heart. She is one amazing gal!

Happy Anniversary!!!

Happy Anniversary to me! It has been exactly one year ago today that my friend, Kathy, and I were hit by a car while riding our bikes. We celebrated today by staying off our bikes and the roads and going out to breakfast!

It has been such a long year, but I have learned many things along the way. Number one:I was reminded that I have a great family who, no matter how much they joked with me, were there for me reassuring me that I was still beautiful even without my front teeth. Two: Great friends are there for you through thick and thin. Kathy has been so supportive and so patient as I have gotten back on track as far as riding goes. Three: Speaking of the road, drivers DON"T always pay attention to anyone sharing the road, especially when talking on the phone. Four: Teeth! How I used to take my teeth for granted! Not anymore! It is amazing what you learn when you don't have two front teeth. Sandwiches, apples, hamburgers, etc were not my friends. And eating in public...that was traumatic, to say the least. (hardly did that at all). Now I think twice about how I use my teeth...they are too precious, and I definitely want to make sure I keep the ones I do have. Five: Trials definitely are not fun but they do make us stronger and more sympathetic to others who may be going through a similar situation. It is so nice to be able to smile confidently again!

BYU or bust!!

It came! The long anticipated notice came today! Our boys will officially be BYU students in the fall!! Go Cougars! And to top it off, our niece, Audrey got accepted as well! It will be an Adams' family reunion at the Y! (already have another niece and nephew attending from the Adams' side). Personally, I think I am more excited for them, than they are. Don't get me wrong, I am not looking forward to them being gone as we will all miss them terribly, but this is going to be such a great experience for them and I know they will do great! Rise and shout, the new Cougars are out!!

Facebook???

I have always been leary of online social networking (email doesn't count). I really am kind of a private person, and not sure if I want the world to have access to me personally. I have also heard of many who use facebook as their own forum to bash family and friends, etc and that really sends me sailing!!!! My close friends and family have been urging me to go on Facebook,(except for my Jessica), but I still have had a hard time budging. I thought a blog was a stretch for me! Then I learned that a really close friend of mine shared wonderful news on facebook and I had to hear it second hand. Is this a sign? I don't know....I am still thinking about it.

Who is who?

Okay, so I published the earlier post without stating who was who. Derrik is number 3 and Devin is number 9. I guess I just take it for granted I know who is who, but not many others do. I will confess that sometimes, not very often, I have cheered for the Devin, when in fact it was really Derrik. What can I say, I am over 40 and they say the eyesight starts going at 40!

My Boys

I borrowed my dad's sweet camera to practice with. I decided to take Derrik's and Devin's soccer pictures this year to save a little money! Thought these turned out great. Let me know what you think. By the way, yes this is our lucious green front yard!

Our Champion

After a very successful soccer season, Tyler's team, the Panthers, slaughtered the competition on Friday and Saturday. They played two of their toughest opponents and ran away with the tournament championship! Tyler is such a smart soccer player. Some even say he will give Derrik and Devin a run for their money. Time will tell. He had a sweet assist on Saturday to his friend Glenn who scored the team's first goal. Coincidently Tyler and Glenn are both the smallest on their team as they have played up this year! It was sweet!! Dave even got to ref on the sidelines for Tyler's game on Friday night. Yes, he was completely fair. This was the only way for him to watch Tyler play as the league was running short on Ref's for the tournament. Needless to say we were all cheering Tyler on to victory! Go Panthers!
